With Invisalign there are no restrictions on what you eat; with braces you must avoid foods that can get stuck in the wires like taffy, popcorn, and gummies. When braces are removed, there can be unsightly stains under the metal brackets, but because Invisalign are removed for regular brushing and flossing that isn’t a concern.
The Invisalign treatment is faster than traditional braces, generally taking between six months to two years to complete, depending on your teeth. New aligner trays are mailed to you every two weeks to guide your teeth into the desired position. While you have to go into the dentist office every month with metal braces to be tightened, Invisalign requires less frequent office visits. Those tightening visits can be extremely uncomfortable, but fortunately Invisalign doesn’t have any wires or brackets – they are braces but better.
