Do you yearn for the smile you USED TO HAVE or the smile you NEVER HAD? Have you ever looked in the mirror and wished that your teeth had a more consistent appearance? Maybe you have gaps between your teeth or small chips. Porcelain veneers can reshape and restore your teeth to give you a stunning, bright smile.
Veneers can be used for many cosmetic concerns, like staining, inconsistent shape, or even crooked teeth. Veneers are ceramic shells that are bonded directly to the front of your teeth. The shells are very thin, which allows the natural color of your teeth to shine through. They look very natural.
Since they’re made from ceramic, dental veneers do require some care to keep them in good shape. They should be treated like your natural teeth. They can be prone to staining, so regular brushing and flossing are important to keep them looking their best. With proper care, your veneers can last well over a decade. Most patients find that their veneers are lasting up to 20 years! If you grind or clench your teeth at night, we may also recommend a nightguard to protect your veneers from chipping.
We can apply ceramic veneers in only three office visits. In the first appointment, we’ll take a look at your teeth and we’ll go over the treatment plan. At the next appointment, we’ll prep your teeth for the veneers. We’ll lightly buff your teeth to allow for the thickness of the veneer.
Then we’ll take an impression of your teeth to create the veneers. The impression will be sent off to the lab, and your veneers should be ready in about three weeks. Then, at your last appointment, we’ll check that the veneers are a good fit and color. Once we both agree they’re perfect, we’ll bond the veneers to your teeth, and you’ll have a dazzling new smile!
